James Emory Holland

SAVANNAH - James Emory Holland, born October 30, 1936, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
Mr. Holland was born in Sardis, GA but lived most of his life in Savannah, GA.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Carroll and Lucille Holland, a sister, Janette Wathen Crabtree, and a nephew, Mitchell D. Warnock, Jr.
He was a graduate of Commercial High School where he was active in sports and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs Football Team.
He was employed at National Gypsum Company for approximately 20 years and later was employed at Duntar Gypsum Company, later known as Georgia Pacific, until his retirement in 1998.
He was a faithful member of Coastal Cathedral for many years where he was active in church activities, including the Prime Timers, and also served as an usher. He served in the Georgia National Guard for approximately 10 years, and was a member of Solomon's Masonic Lodge #1, F&AM, and was one of the founders of the Cobra Men's Club.
He was a very compassionate individual who dearly loved his family, friends, and pet cat "Patche", and enjoyed devoting his time to visiting residents of nursing homes with some of his friends on Tuesdays.
He is survived by three sons, Richard Holland Linda of Minden, LA, James Stephen Holland and Jonathan Holland of Savannah; one daughter, Rebekah Holland of Savannah, one brother, John W. Holland Ann of Savannah, two sisters, Lenore Campbell Leon, and Carolyn Warnock, all of Savannah; three grandchildren, Jessica Holland, Jared Holland, and Joshua Holland of Richmond Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
The funeral will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Burial will be in Holland-Mallard Cemetery in Girard, GA at 3:00 pm.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Cobra Men's Club.
Remembrances to the Shriner's Crippled Childrens Hospital or Coastal Cathedral.
